Latin Lower Intermediate III – Term Time Class

This course is for students with a strong command of Latin grammar who are ready to engage with increasingly sophisticated texts. At this level, students will begin their journey into Latin poetry, exploring works by authors such as Catullus, Ovid, and Martial. They will encounter various poetic forms, including elegiac couplets, and will develop an appreciation for the nuances of poetic expression in Latin. Students will study the future imperative (active and passive), the perfect and pluperfect subjunctive (active and passive), the gerundive, various subordinate clauses, and an introduction to poetic structures. This level will also introduce students to Ovidian myths including the stories of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Ceres and Proserpina, offering a literary and stylistic bridge to more advanced poetic readings.
